# Moveable: the back catalog, finally on Bandcamp

Moveable were a loud rock trio: Boston in 1994, New York by 1998, done by 2000.
Kyle Richards on bass and vocals, Bill French on drums, me on guitar. Somewhere
between Fugazi, Slint, Gang of Four and the Jesus Lizard, or as we put it at the
time: "dynamic, between really loud and sort of loud."

The recordings have been on hard drives and in boxes ever since. They're now on
[Bandcamp](https://moveable.bandcamp.com), reissued on our own label,
Front Yard Records.

## What's there

The self-titled 1998 CD is up first — six tracks, four of them recorded at
Supersonic in Cambridge, MA by John Harris during a snowstorm on the first day
of spring, mastered at M Works that August. Streaming free, name your price.

Following it: the whole live set from the Choppin' Block on June 12, 1998,
fifteen songs, one night, no fixes; the twelve-track Parlour demo from March
2000, engineered by Ric Peletier, which was meant to become our full-length
before the band ended; and four remixes made in 2020 from the original
multitrack tapes, twenty years after we stopped.

Two songs exist only on the live recording. One track on the demo is still
listed under its working title, because nobody wrote the real one down.

## Someone got there first

While setting this up I found `moveable.bandcamp.com` already taken — not by a
bandmate, but by a spam account. It had scraped our Discogs entry, generated a
first-person "review" of a record it had never heard, and used the page to point
at a link farm. It dated our 1999 single to January 2025 and tagged it "kids."

The review is, in fairness, not bad. It describes the drums as sounding "like
they're about to fall apart but somehow hold it together," and the feedback as
humming "like a broken fridge." Both are better than anything written about us
at the time. It then invents a neighbor's cat.

It also gets the record completely wrong — it calls the recording muddy and
lo-fi, when those two tracks are the cleanest, best-engineered thing we ever
did. It had read the word "snowstorm" in the credits and reasoned from there.

Reported it, and moved on — registered under Front Yard Records instead rather
than wait on the outcome. A few weeks later Bandcamp took the spam page down
for an Acceptable Use Policy violation, which freed up the real name. The
catalog now lives at
