I'm Daniel, also known to many as Klokie. I bring over two decades of experience to the table as a senior Web architect, full-stack developer, and entrepreneur. My expertise lies in engineering and designing intricate data-driven websites, e-commerce platforms, and media distribution systems. These skills have been honed across various industries, including music, video, online and print publishing, and fashion.
As a founding partner and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of tech and media startups like ENLIVEN, ODALISQUE, and SURFACE TO AIR, I provide agile technical leadership, mentorship, and comprehensive web engineering consulting services. Our startups have a global reach, and my role involves shaping the technical direction, mentoring teams, and contributing my full-stack web engineering skills.
In addition to my entrepreneurial endeavors, I've also served as a senior researcher and consultant on several technical Research and Development (R&D) projects funded under the European Union's FP7 grant program. Within this role, I've designed scalable, distributed systems for streaming video and audio, conducted semantic text analysis, and developed machine learning and recommender systems. These solutions integrated multi-platform social media profiles while respecting privacy constraints. I've also delved into real-time chat systems, media search, and discovery solutions.
Furthermore, I lead development efforts for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) spread across Europe and the United States. My focus is on delivering high-performance, aesthetically pleasing solutions that simplify complexity by leveraging open source technology and adhering to Web standards. These solutions create cutting-edge, real-time online experiences that balance digital finesse with aesthetic beauty.
Beyond my tech pursuits, I have a strong musical background as a classically trained musician and composer. I've composed over 40 works for various ensembles and had the privilege of having some of my compositions performed at prestigious venues like New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall and MIT's Killian Hall. Additionally, I've authored articles for publications like GuitarOne Magazine and LeCool. On the performance front, I've showcased my skills as a guitarist, bassist, and DJ in various cities across Europe and the US.
